Pregnancy-Week 11 & 12

Today we are 12 weeks and one day.

We have had two visits with the baby already. We went for an ultrasound at 11 weeks and one day, and another at 12 weeks.

The first ultrasound was very exciting for us. When we first saw the baby, it was taking a nap. The baby was so sweet with one little arm behind it's head and it's hand on it's face. The tech was having trouble measuring the gap in the neck (to check for Mental Retardation [which she was unable to do]), so she asked me to cough a few times to wake the baby. Once it was awake, it streched and started moving very quickly. The baby looked like it was dancing. (It is part latino!) We were also able to hear the heart beat for the first time. It was so moving that it still puts me in tears thinking about it.

The second ultrasound was also very exciting. Before the appointment, I drank some green tea (which apparently helped the baby wake up, too). When we saw the baby, he/she was flipping and turning. Some how our little one managed to stay still long enough for the tech to measure a 1mm gap in it's neck! (which means he/she will more than likely be completely mentally healthy!) 

Our tech, has been a special part of our baby progress. Not only is she our personal baby photographer, but she is very informative and very fun to talk and laugh with.
