Pregnancy-Week 17 Day 2

Over the past few weeks, we have been attending a labor and birthing course instructed by doula, Ruth Kraft. We have thoroughly enjoyed her classes, and feel like we have learned a lot about our different birthing options. We have decided to have a water birth in our home. We know that it will be very difficult to have a natural birth, but feel that it is the best option for our family.

After speaking with several midwives, we have found one that we believe is very experienced (having worked as a Midwife for over 19 years).Lori Nelson is a Registered Nurse and Midwife. She has delivered 1,300+ babies, and has worked in hospitals, birthing centers, and now has her own private practice. Though, she is very professional and full of wisdom; she is also very down to earth and comical. We look forward to working with her.

As for the baby...
We have another ultrasound scheduled for the 19th, where we will hopefully find out the gender of our little Chupitite. We will also have the results of our last test that predicts mental disorders. However, we are not too concerned about this aspect of the appointment; since the first test detecting down syndrome was negative.

Now that we are fully into the second trimester, I (Lindsey) am now really enjoying pregnancy. I have begun to feel the baby flip and kick. It is amazing to be able to be part of such a wonderful part of life; I feel truly blessed! (And of course I'm tearing up while typing this!) My belly has finally begun to look like a baby bump, and people have begun to ask when I am due. :)
